Sam’s Malala Story
We frequent our local library, taking out a dozen books at a time. Our child has inherited our voracious reading habits, so keeping the books fresh is great for both her interest, and our sanity. One of the books we picked up was titled “I look up to… Malala Yousafzai” by Anna Membrino. For some reason, our child attached to this book. “Sammy want the Malala book?” she’d often ask. The book talks about how Malala loves to learn, and every time we encourage Sam’s learning, or comment on how well she’s learned a concept, she repeats back to us “Sammy loves learning, just like Malala!”
I don’t know what it was about Malala Yousafzai in particular that has captured my child’s interest and adoration, but I’ll do everything I can to encourage it!
